Wayne County Schools uses WARN for Schools to alert parents of county wide early dismissal
Wayne County Schools uses “WARN for Schools” to notify parents and guardians of early dismissal, due to forthcoming inclement weather. After deliberation with school officials, weather agencies, and the DOH the county school board decided to dismiss students at 1:30PM. They used WARN for Schools to notify parents and guardians. WARN for Schools automatically deleted duplicate phone numbers so that parents and guardians with more than one child in the county school system would receive only one call.
After the calls were completed, each principal received an email depicting the results of the countywide call for their particular school. This gave the faculty the information they needed to determine what children to hold at school due to the fact the parent or guardian was not contacted.
