Kanawha County Health Department selects a CRI Coordinator

Official Notice

After an extensive search and interviewing of a substantial number of qualified candidates for the position of CRI-MSA Coordinator, we have extended an offer to and it has been accepted by Seth Staker. Seth is presently employed as coordinator of Emergency Services and untington Office Manager for the American Red Cross (central West Virginia chapter). Start date is effective July 1, 2007.

Mr Staker comes to as with an extensive 10 year background with the American Red Cross in emergency planning and all hazards response capabilities, including pandemic flu planning and urban to rural evacuation response. Prior to this, he served with the State of West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety, Office of Emergency Services in Charleston as an emergency operations planner. In that capacity, he became very familiar with the ins and outs of operating in our particular MSA area.

While Seth will be officially housed at and report to me at Kanawha-Charleston Health Department headquarters, it must be emphasized that in the larger sense, he will be responsible to and an employee of the CRI-MSA county group as a whole.

As mentioned, Seth will start with us on July 1, 2007. After an initial orientation and settling in period here, we envision that he will be in the Charleston office 1-2 days per week. The balance of his time will be spent on an inter-county basis, often at your particular health department locations, and will require some sort of a space to hang his hat in order to work very closely with each of our counties to coordinate overall Threat Preparedness, SNS, and CRI emergency planning goals.

Because of Seth’s extensive background in our particular area of need, we do not expect he will need extensive “training” and will contribute toward our identified CSI goals in short order. We will arrange a CRI Committee Meeting soon to introduce Seth to the group shortly after his arrival.
